With all the millions of travel blogs and youtube videos, it can be difficult to choose where to go if you only have a few days in Barcelona. Here are our suggestions along with an indication of which tours we offer at DayTripsBarcelona.com.
We are a small family owned and operated local tour company based in Barcelona. We only offer Half-Day or Full Day tours outside Barcelona for small groups who are looked after all day by an expert and experienced guide. We offer a very good value upgrade to a private minivan tour and all our tours have personal hotel pick-up and drop off.

1. Montserrat mountain and monastery
Highlights are abbey, basilica and Lady of Montserrat shrine perched on mountainside
Montserrat is the number one destination to visit outside Barcelona. It combines history with geology, legend and spectacular nature.
Montserrat is 1 hour from Barcelona and can be visited on a half-day tour. It’s exciting because of its location on a mountain side with cable cars and mountain trains of various types.
You can go yourself by train from Barcelona. Or you can choose from over 50 small and large group tours online. DayTripsBarcelona offers a very small group tour of maximum 7 guests. 2. Girona
Highlights are medieval city center, Jewish quarter, Game of Thrones locations
Girona has a rich and interesting history. It has also become popular in recent years after hosting the popular Game of Thrones TV show for series six. Choose from DayTripsBarcelona Barcelona to Girona half-day tours:

3. Figueres – home to Dalí Museum.
The Dalí Theatre-Museum. This is the main attraction in Figueres, which is 1.5 hours north of Barcelona by train or car. Definately worth a visit, but be warned that in peak tourist season the Dalí museum is very full. For this reason DayTripsBarcelona no longer offers tours to the Dali Theatre Museum, but we are sure that you can find many excellent Dali tours on the internet
4. Tarragona – Roman amphitheatre, chariot circus, walls and aqueduct.
Highlights are Roman ruins of Tarraco.
Tarragona is scenic and quaint and quite by Barcelona standards. The main attraction of the city is the Roman heritage, so generally this only attracts history fans and so it’s a little less crowded than other day tours near Barcelona.

5. Costa Brava – medieval villages scenic cliffs and coves.
This is a lovely trip out of the city to an area of great natural beauty.

6. Sitges – seaside resort and village 30 mins from Barcelona.
This is more of a DIY – do it yourself – tour destination because there are trains every 20 minutes from Barcelona to Sitges. This make it easy and fun to travel to Sitges yourself. There is not a lot of specific history or culture in Sitges, but it does have a lovely small village with quaint shops, a church and a very nice beach promenade making this a lovely choice for an afternoon away from the bustle of Barcelona
7. Penedès wine region – large wine and cava area
Penedès is one of the biggest wine making regions in Spain. Penedès is located just 1 hour to the south-west of Barcelona which is convenient for wine and cava tours from Barcelona. You can go yourself by train to visit the Freixenet cava winery or book one of many wine tours online.

8. Andorra – microstate nestled high in Pyrenees mountains. Very nice to visit for mountain and valley scenes. It’s a long day tours – 3 hours to Andorra from Barcelona so with breaks expect around 7 to 8 hours of driving on a 12 hour day tour which is often combined with a visit to France. There are several ski stations in Andorra, however there are few, if any, tour companies that offer 1 day ski tours. If you want to see snow and try a bit of skiing, then consider taking the train to La Molina or Massela ski stations in the Pre-Pyrenees. DayTripsBarcelona no longer offers tours to Andorra.
9. Vic – medieval town on way to Pyrenees mountains. Some tours offers a stop at Vic on the way to Vall de Nuria, but in our opinion Vic is perhaps not worth visiting in its own right.
10. Montblanc – medieval walled town 2hrs from Barcelona. Nice to visit but little specific history.
